Exmouth apprentice receives help from RGB

An apprentice electrician has won £250 to spend at the Exmouth branch of RGB Building Supplies to help him to build a kit of essential tools and accessories.

In celebration of RGB Building Supplies’ employee and former apprentice Sarah Daniel winning the national BMF (Builders Merchants Federation) Young Achiever Award for 2018, the business launched a competition to support the next generation of tradesmen and women.

Sarah had joined RGB as an apprentice and developed extensive knowledge and skills across many areas of the merchant sector. At the end of her training, we created a new permanent merchandising role for Sarah and she continues to work for the company as part of its head office product team.

To enter the competition, apprentices from across the region simply had to tell RGB what apprenticeship they were undertaking. Sam Smith, who is completing his traineeship with Alan Griffin Electrical, was chosen at random from all entries and is now able to use the vouchers to build his kit.

David Wright, Branch Manager at RGB Building Supplies, commented: “It’s important that young people who are learning a trade are given the support they need to help them develop their career, particularly as the construction industry is facing a skills shortage. The competition was a way for us to do just that and highlight that our branch teams are always on hand to give advice about products and materials. Congratulations to Sam from everyone at the Exmouth branch.”
