Ask the Expert: Installing Fire Rated Downlights

In our latest Ask the Expert video, Scolmore Group’s Darren Staniforth, Head of Technical Engagement, explores the correct installation of downlights in domestic situations, answering the question: Do all lights installed in ceilings need to be fire rated?

In this short video, Darren presents two examples – a downlighter without an intumescent strip and one with. He explores common questions Scolmore Group receives, such as: do all downlights need to have built-in fire protection, when can I use them without it, can I use a mixture of both, what are local building control requirements?
