Leading, work-based training provider, JTL continues to support the changing needs of electricians with the launch of its latest, free bite-size digital course, An Introduction to Earthing and Bonding.
The free course is offered as part of JTL’s Power Up series, a digital initiative which offers free advice and educational resources to individuals working within the building services engineering sector. Developed with the recent changes in earth bonding regulations in mind, the course helps electricians understand the role that earthing and bonding and earth fault loop impedance play in ensuring electrical safety. As part of this course, learners will be introduced to the different types of earthing conductors and their purpose, as well as how they can be sized accurately to ensure that electrical faults disconnect within the time allowed by the IET wiring regulations.
In addition to this, the course also explores the importance of the earth fault loop impedance path and how it differs for different earthing arrangements. Designed to take a minimum of 30 minutes to complete, the course has been produced to facilitate the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) of its participants and boost workplace competency.
Nadia Choudhury, Digital Product Manager at JTL, said: “As a training provider which prides itself on the technical support it offers to industry professionals, we’re deeply invested in keeping our learners up to date on the latest, sector developments. We’re delighted to now be able to add this new course on earthing and bonding to our already-extensive selection of bite-size modules.
“In its emphasis on identifying the different kinds of earthing conductors and fault protection, this course makes for an excellent supplement to some of JTL’s other Power Up courses, such as Inspection and Testing and Safe Isolation. In line with JTL’s commitment to accessibility, this latest course can also be accessed via mobile, tablet or desktop meaning that participants can complete it wherever and whenever best suits them.”
The Introduction to Earthing and Bonding digital course is available now on JTL’s Power Up learning portal. For more information on Power Up and to access the full suite of Toolbox resources, including business tips, technical advice and industry news, visit www.jtltraining.com/toolbox/powerup/.
