Details on how you can enter the 2020 competition
The Electrical Apprentice of the Year Competition run by NICEIC and ELECSA is an opportunity for students to prove their knowledge and abilities and win some fantastic prizes.
The competition consists of three stages and is open to all students undertaking electrical studies or an apprenticeship.
Stage 1: The first stage which is now open for registration, is an online test comprising of 40 multiple choice questions. Applicants have 80 minutes to complete the test which can be accessed at www.niceic.com/apprentice
Stage 2: The top performing 20% from stage one will go to the second stage of the contest – a written 1 ½ hour exam
Stage 3: The finalists will take part in a series of practical tests at the Grand Final on June 2nd at the headquarters of Scolmore in Tamworth.
What can you win?
All eight finalists will receive an iPad, with a £2,000 holiday voucher being awarded to the overall winner. There are also two runners up prizes of a £750 holiday voucher and a £250 holiday voucher.
Each finalist will also receive a Scolmore Van Pack, an engraved trophy and an NICEIC and ELECSA Goody Bag.
There will also be smaller prizes throughout each stage of the competition.
Benefits for colleges
Every college that enters 20 or more students into the competition will also qualify for a College Pack and will receive 25 Double Sockets, 25 Switches, 25 6″ Pendants and 25 Batten Holders – all provided by our partners The Scolmore Group.
The College that produces the Electrical Apprentice of the Year will also receive £1,000 worth of Scolmore products.
Benefits for employers
The employer of the winning apprentice will also receive a year’s free registration with NICEIC and ELECSA.
